Hard Drive Adaptor -- What Size?
Hard Drive Adaptor -- What Size?
I have an old Maxtor 17.2GB/5400RPM drive that I would like to plug in and get data off of (I'm not sure what is on it, but I must have kept the drive for a reason!). The model is Maxtor 91728D8, is 5.75 inches long, 4 inches wide and almost 1 inch high. I am trying to figure out what size hard drive enclosure I would need to use this.
After I offload the data, I want to use the enclosure as a backup hard drive for data. How do I determine what drive will fit in the same enclosure that I'm using to off-load the 17.5 GB drive?
Thanks.

You would use a 3.5" hard drive enclosure.
That enclosure will be able to use any modern 3.5" desktop hard drive, up to 500GB, most likely (and that's only because 500GB is the biggest that's out there).
Basically, any new desktop hard drive that you could buy today would work in that enclosure.

Thanks.
Will the 3.5 enclosure also work with my old Maxtor drive? It was manufactured in 1998.

What is the difference between Oxford 911 (Firewire 400) and Oxford 912 (Firewire 800)? I haven't really been able to tell based on a quick websearch.
