Voided Warranties

I purchased the 3 year extended warranty from IBM/Lenovo, but I heard that if water or some other substance is spilled on it, the warranty will not cover it. Is this true? If so, is there a stronger warranty available, in case I spill coffee on my laptop. (I use my thinkpad at starbucks about 15 hours a week).
It appears that if you remove any ID labels from your thinkpad, you have voided your warranty. Can anyone tell me if this statement is accurate? Look at the following.

Any followup is appreciated.

This 3 year warranty "covers unintentional, accidental damage due to power surges, drops or falls, liquid spills and LCD damage caused by a drop or a fall." I would just make sure this is the coverage you already have -
Warranty Lookup.

But I think you can't buy it for already purchuased machine, see this:
Purchase window
With system purchase Yes
Available aftermarket No
I think it is logic because you would buy it after something happens. But I am not sure.

Thanks for the replies. As it turns out I do have the 3 year warranty that covers accidental spills. Now I dont have to be hyper-paranoid about spilling coffee on my thinkpad!

for my machine the lookup page says "This product has a three year limited warranty and is entitled to IBM EZServ service." but no link to what the warranty actually covers.

How do I check to see what type of warranty I have if the only info I have is model number (2373N3U)?
Thanks for any help!
Update:
I checked the product info under the education website. According to the site, the model I ordered has the following warranty:
"Limited warranty - parts and labor - 3 years ª Limited warranty - battery - 1 year "
I'm assuming this means that it doesn't cover spills and etc. If that's the case, is it recommended and do I have time to get that warranty (I ordered my computer this past monday so it hasn't been shipped yet)?
Thanks for all the help!

Just wondering, is the thinkpad protection plan supposed to show up on the warranty status page?

You can purchase the Thinkpad Protection within 30 days from the invoice date of your Thinkpad. I bought a T42 a week ago and Lenovo just sent me an email reminding me that I can still buy Thinkpad Protection. Since it will be used by my college-going daughter, I think I will.
The only thing that made me hesitate is that she'll be transferring to a college in Canada this fall and I don't think the Thinkpad Protection is valid there. I'll call tomorrow and find out. Of course, she can always ship it back here, if needed.

i have had various comments about whether the thinkpad protection is valid in canada..
read the fine print and DO ask for a written opinion..
but i can say that thinkpad protection is well worth the $$ you pay for it..
it is really an insurance policy so it will vary slightly from state to state..
but overall, my personal opinion is that if you intend to keep your thinkpad for more than 3 years get thinkpad protection AND on site next business day 9 to 5 warranty coverage..

To answer my own question, I just spoke with a "Thinkpad Protection specialist" at Lenovo who assured me that the Thinkpad Protection is valid in Canada when my daughter moves there this fall. At a cost of only $118 (educational) for 3 years, that's a bargain I will take advantage of.
