Adding Firewire to T43

Any pointers on the best way to add firewire to a T43.

I see that Belkin has a F5U505 expresscard on their website, but it doesn't appear to be available.

I would ideally like a card that sits flush in the PCMCIA/EP slot with a mini firewire connector. I have not been able to find something like this.

thanks.

IBM used to do a PCMCIA Firewire card. It used a proprietary cable to go from the card to a 6 pin FW plug but it was flush to the laptop case.

I stupidly gave mine away!

here is a link

maybe you can find one on ebay

Yes actually I found the IBM one as well Part no. 19K5686.

IBM parts has it for $130 or so, but can be located on the web for less.
Not the cheapest one but at least unobtrusive. I want a card that I can leave in the notebook when I put the laptop in my bag.

That one at least has a cable for each port that directly has a firewire plug at the end. No nasty external dongle/box as some other ones have.

I will try and follow up on the Buffalotech one, but they seem to have a lot more stuff in Japan than in the US.

cheers..

Apricorn's much cheaper Dual Igniter 400 not only looks very similar
to IBM one, but also uses Texas Instruments chipset as IBM one does.
More curiously, the part number of Apricorn's card is 19K5679 (!)
according to this page:

http://www.apricorn.com/product_details.php?ID=232

Does any one know whether they are actually identical cards or not?
(I have only used IBM's firewire card.)

Good find, klangfarben. At least it's much cheaper than the IBM one.
