Can't connect to Internet when waking up from Stand-by
Can't connect to Internet when waking up from Stand-by
Hi,
Whenever I wake up from either Stand-by or Hibernation, and go to Outlook Express, I always get an error message saying that I'm not connected to the internet. The same happens when I click on my browser (Firefox). I get a balloon on the Connection Status icon , that to restart the connection I have to use the Repair feature. I am plugged into power when this happens. It doesn't occur when I first boot up in the morning from Shut-down.
Is something wrong somewhere to cause this to need to be repaired so often? By Repair, I think it said they were changing my IP address.
Thanks for any help,
sand

I'm sorry to send all this long list of specifications, but I'm not sure what it is you need. It should be on here. I do have wireless, but I don't understand what the other things are that you mentioned.
Thank you. Sand

Re: Can't connect to Internet when waking up from Stand-by
I don't know if something needs to be repaired or not.Sand wrote:Is something wrong somewhere to cause this to need to be repaired so often? By Repair, I think it said they were changing my IP address.
I have a similar experience with my T23. However, I only have this problem when I change location like from home to work. Each time, it doesn't seem to be able to get an IP address automatically and I have to do a repair connection. If I am at home, then waking from stand-by and hibernation is not a problem. I am using Windows Zero Configuration for setting up wireless on this laptop.
With my T43 (IBM a/b/g II wifi) and using Access Connection, there is no problem whatsoever. It connects with whichever network that it is setup to find.
Which router do you have for your wireless? Are you changing locations when this happens to you? Are you using IBM's Access Connection software or Windows Zero Configuration?
Re: Can't connect to Internet when waking up from Stand-by
yes, which router do you use ? I have sometimes the similar problem with ASUS, it is not able to notice I had been off for a longer time, so it does not recover my IP.
Let's go'n'restart
