WoW on the T30

#1 Post by desdinova » Tue Aug 16, 2005 11:22 pm

I should be getting my thinkpad soon (Hi matt) and was just wondering if anyone was playing World of Warcraft on this model.

I'm not even sure if it's at all possible with the R7500. I've played it on crap computers (GF2MX) and it's ugly but it's still playable.

Anyway, any insight is appreciated.

Take care,
Des

It will probably play, but not much better than those computers with GF2MX cards. The Radeon 7500 is more powerful than the GF2MX, but not by much.

Suprisingly, I can play Half Life 2 on my ThinkPad at XGA resolution, although it can't do many cool graphical effects due to lack of DX9 in hardware.

What are the specifications of the ThinkPad you are getting? CPU, RAM, and video RAM make a difference in the performance you will see while playing WoW.
Homebuilt PC: AMD Athlon XP (Barton) @ 1.47 GHz; nForce2 Ultra; 1GB RAM; 80GB HDD @ 7200RPM; ATI Radeon 9600; Integrated everything else!

PIV/2GHz, 1GB RAM, 7500/16.

The official sysreqs claim you need 32MB of VRAM, but I know maccies that are running it on radeons with 16, soooo. I guess I'll see when I get her. :)

If she can't play WoW, I don't care, that's not why I'm buying her. It'd just be a nicety.

16MB might be a stretch, but that's what AGP is for :)
