Machine blocks when booting with USB hub connected

I own a TP r40e 2684 and i run WinXP Pro SP2. Because the machine only possesses 2 USB ports, i use a USB hub (with its own power supply) when i work at home. This hub connects my keyboard, mouse, printer etc. I usually leave the USB cable connected when i shut down my ThinkPad; but if I do so and I turn him back on with the usb hub connected, booting up blocks on the IBM screen. As soon as i plug out the usb hub, it continues booting. This is quite annoying, anyone has a solution?

PS: I am not a real BIOS specialist, but I did set up the boot order with the HDD in first place, so i don't THINK that's the issue.

I was thinking BIOS until I kept reading your post. With mine, I have almost the exact setup. Startup will stop only if my 2.5" HDD happens to be connected to the USB hub on boot up. If I unplug the HDD from the hub, it continues.

It may be the type of hub?

Happens to me when I try to boot from a USB device. It locks on the IBM screen for about 2 minutes and then continues. If anyone has a fix for this I'd be most grateful

i have a belkin kvm, and if i leave the power switch on the psu turned to on with the actual computer off, my TP will refuse to boot past the IBM loggo, but if i turn the switch at the back off (so no power is going to the desktop at all), it will boot first time everytime.

weird :/
