I think there's a PCI slot in the Dock II that you can put a half-height card in to.

There are lots of great PCMCIA, USB and Firewire audio devices out there though, I don't know why you'd want to use a PCI card.

Yea I picked up a Creative Sound Blaster USB on clearance at Wally-World for about 20$ US recently. It has both analog and optical outputs and the sound quality isn't bad at all especially considering the price. In fact, I've plugged it into my Yamaha reciever / Bose 700 system. I do have a dock but I used that PCI slot for a multiport USB2 /1394 card.

I'm looking at pricewatch.com and you seem to hav gotten a pretty good deal on that soundblaster 24-bit external. The best i can find it for is like 50bucks.

I'm actually thinking of getting a pcmcia 7.1 sound card to test out on a home studio. As i'd like to have a mechamism to do some music production both at home and elsewhere. :)

If you find another one ill gladly pay for shipping and paypal for you to send it to me at $20. :)

The Audigy 2 Notebook edition PCMCIA card has gotten good reviews, with similar performance to a regular desktop Audigy 2.
I'm not a Creative fan, but it might be a good option for you as an upgraded soundcard for a laptop.

the problem with those cards is that they range from 50-150. They arent meant for a professional studio production.

You are better of with an external mixer with a usb port if you plan on doing TRUE mixing.

Those will range anywhere from 50-150 and above as well.
