Software installer giving me Japanese Intel wireless driver?

#1 Post by alpuzz » Sat Sep 03, 2005 11:24 am

I just ran software installer, and it's showing a new package for my system:
The (Japanese) Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2200BG, 2915ABG network driver.

Wha? :?
First of all, my machine was purchased here in the uS.

Second of all, it's a T43 2668-75U, and therefore has the IBM wireless card, not the intel.

Anybody know what gives, and whether there is any way to keep this package from showing up in the future?

Thanks,

I see it as well, although I do have the intel card, I still should not see the Japanese software package. Seems like Lenovo is playing with the Software Installer.

I see both English and Japanese drivers now.

Now for me, the Japanese driver has gone away, as if it had never been there in the first place. Weird.

I wish I knew what Lenovo is up to, now Software installer wants to give me the (Japanese) National Semiconductor TPM (Trusted Platform software.

Japanese drivers probably are re-packaged American ones (usually are) and would not have made a difference.

Maybe so for the TPM software, but I wouldn't have wanted to bet on that with the wireless driver as I don't even have the intel card.
