converting recovery CD to DVD?

#1 Post by skanky » Tue Sep 06, 2005 2:10 am

i've already created a set of six (seven?) reocvery cds for my T42, which is a right pain, are there any docs/instructions on how to convert those to a single CDR and DVDR.

i dont have access to an external DVD writer.

thanks.

I have a similar problem. I wrote all 5 + 1 startup recovery CDs to CDs, and I didn't realize I could do 1 CD + 1 DVD.

Can the Create Recovery Discs program be reset?

CD/DVD Product Recovery Discs

I guess copying and merging the recovery directories from the Product Recovery CDs and then burning a DVD containing only this single recovery directory should probably work after adjusting recovery\recover.ini to disk=1 islast=1. See also here.

If you don't like the CD/DVDs, another alternative altogether is to buy a cheap 2.5" HD and USB2.0 case, then RR to that.

I use this method to keep my backups off my main HD, and it cost me 50 bucks for a 20GB 2.5" HD, and another 10bucks for a USB enclosure. Not a bad price as an alternative to the CD/DVDs.
