So with this warranty thing, if I use my laptop on battery alot and it loses its charge I get a new battery just like that?

no answer?. really confused how do they determine if a battery went faster than usual or that you have overused it? whats does capacity mean and cycles?

Capacity is how much energy your battery can hold and a cycle is one charge and discharge, whether it be full or partial.

As for why a battery would die faster than normal, it can be from not following proper maintenance procedures to a defecive cell to a power problem to something else in those lines.

As for warranty, i'm pretty sure that as long as there's no evidence of downright and blatant abuse, they'll replace the battery if it dies within the year.

My battery malfunctioned 6 months after I bought my TP. I called up IBM, they verified the warranty and they sent a replacement right at my doorstep at no extra charge.

Thanks. I should be fine.. After my first week at school I have actually been travelin gon campus with mine. i often use the battery but its only for half hour intervals at a time and the charge doesn't go down as much. So I am confused. I know many people use batter power for the full 3 + hours everyday or others use it once in awhile. I on the other hand seem to be using it for half hour intervals. Recently going to the school book store then opening up the laptop to look for books online or, chanign class schedule, checking schedules. But sooner or later I am off to another place on campus
with an adapter. So. should I still charge it to 100% or should i keep going to 80? or is it 60% the ideal? Just

I personally prefer to charge my battery before it hits 20 and after it falls below 40. I don't know if that's the ideal but it seems to work on the 3 batteries I have for my 760. All three are probably from 1996 or 1997 and all still hold 2 hour charge.
