Problem with IBM Access Connections..

I ran software update and updated my Intel ABG wireless driver (9.0.2.31) , my Access connections refuses to work with the wireless card (saying something like the installed driver is incombatible with the version of access connections, I have 3.71).

I tried creating a new profile with no avail, but what's wierd is that the wireless security now only shows WEP. Basically I am forced to use Windows to manage my wireless info.

It looks like my only solution is to either; a) downgrade the wireless driver (which I can't find), or b) wait for Lenovo to update Access Connections.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

This is a know problem, there are several other threads about this topic on the forum. I was able after some tweaking to get everything working again but it was never the same and broke frequently. I'm currently using intel proset to handle my connections.

I have a client T42 with the Intel 9.0.2.31 driver and Access Connections 3.71. Works fine (although I much prefer the IBM card). I upgraded this machine with Software Installer and all that worked. From prior experience, I can say this:

1. Make sure you have Access Connections and the Intel driver in your C:\Drivers folder exploded and ready to go.
2. Uninstall Access Connections.
3. Uninstall the wireless driver.
4. Restart.
5. When it wants to install the wireless NIC, either point it to C:\Drivers or cancel and install manually using Setup in the wireless NIC folder.
6. Restart.
7. Install Access Connections.

That usually works for me. ... JD Hurst

I ended up scrapping Access Connections with an Intel b/g card and instead using Intel's Proset utility (that I got off Dell's site). Fewer problems, much faster to connect, and just as flexible as Access Connections IMO.
