Recommendations for Battery MaxiMiser Gauge alternative

Hello All!

Anyone know if it's possible for the Battery MaxiMiser Gauge to display the Time Remaining instead of the % Charge Remaining? I know that mousing over the gauge will display time remaining, but I'd like to see it at a glance without having to move the mouse as I work. Is there a good, low resource alternative?

Thanks!

I want to know too.

After some rather frustrating hijinks this week, I found that I've been using Power Manager 1.01 on my T41, which offered the time. I also use 1.12 on my T43.

Now, Power Manager 1.12 is specified ONLY for T43s, but it's working fine on my 41 with the latest ACPI power management driver 1.33.

YMMV, and you're solely responsible if you switch from Power Management/Battery Maximizer 1.38 to the Power Manager.

FYI, I haven't been able to install 1.38, so I don't know that it doesn't offer the "time remaining" display. Chris? Gom? Kyocera?

I have 1.38 and on my T40 2374, it does NOT have the option to show time remaining. How can you download older versions of the power manager?

It WORKS! I installed the program used in my link, and then ran software installer to update it.

Software Installer picked it up, and would update as long as I uninstalled Power Maximiser first. I did so, and restarted. I now have the time remaining shown in the taskbar!

I am running a T40 2374 - so it is not only for T43's anymore.

Cool. It works on my X31 too, even though it says it is only for the X32. However, I can't find the "charge threshold" feature that can stop it from charging above, for example, 90%. Any ideas? I really liked the charge threshold feature on my other thinkpads.

The battery maintenance feature doesn't work on older TPs. I'm guessin' it's due to hardware differences. Sorry, looks like I didn't point that out.

I saw a Linux program that allowed the control of charge thresholds on X31s, but I guess they never made one for Windows XP. Anyone think I can trick my computer (via BIOS hack or something) that it is an X32 or X40? WOuld that work? I'm using a battery that rapidly blinks orange in the LCD frame's battery guage when it gets to 100%, and I can't get it to stop.

If your indicator is blinking orange at 100% charge, the software isn't the problem. Somewhere between 80 and 100%, it ought to go to Green, blinking once in a while.

Tried pulling the battery (WHILE the AC adapter is plugged in), and reinserting it?

Also, if you're using a version of Power Manager which isn't technically supported on your TP, you may've found a reason NOT to run it. In the case of such flakiness, I'd go back to the supported version. [edit] Hacking your BIOS or other tricks would not be my choice for a way to run unsupported (for your model) software. Use your best judgement when trying out the "other version."

Cool, gotta try Power Manager too. I keep having this problem with Battery Maximizer where the green battery meter disappears from the task bar...

Is there a software way to "disconnect and reconnect" the battery? I need to unplug the battery all the time to get it to work, and a software solution that would disconnect and connect it, like the repair function for the wireless, would be perfect. It's driving me nuts.
