I have a Thinkpad T41 ( os win xp, latest drivers as of 15 sept2005) connected to a Port Replicator ll (part 74P6733 ) . An external Microphone and external speakers are connected to the associated plugs at the rear of the replicator and both ( external mic and external speakers) work fine , HOWEVER the internal speakers and mic on the T41 are operating at the same time as the external mic+speakers.
Should the internal mic/speakers be disabled when external mic/speakers are connected via the port replicator?
thanks
Audio issue with Port Replicator II (sku 74P6733)
This issue has been covered before on these forums. You can search for it for more info. I do not have a port replicator, but I remember reading that some users insert a unwired plug into the jack to disable the internal speakers (same for the mic). You can buy a plug like this at Radio Shack, or else cut one off of an old pair of headphones (be careful you do not short out the wires though).
