R/T Series Keyboard compatibility question

#1 Post by tabithaboof » Mon Sep 19, 2005 8:51 am

I have a Japanese R50e with a Japanese keyboard which is slightly fustrating as the ascii sets are different so some of the character are in different places.

A friend very kindly offered to donate an American T21 Keyboard but I dont know if it would be compatible or not.

Anyone have any ideas?

Failing that, does anyone know a good source for English R series keyboards?

Thanks alot!
Japanese R50e(1834-E8J), English XP, 1.5 ghz Celeron M, 1240 MB ram, 100gb HD, CD-RW/DVD

Not an elegant solution perhaps, but AFAIK you can go to Start > Control Panel (note: I use classic view) > Regional and Language Options > Languages > Details... > Add..., and choose your Input Language: and Keyboard layout/IME:. You could then put on a keyboard overlay or sticky dots with the letters printed on them if you need them. Like I said not an elegant solution, but it may be better than fighting with your Japanese keyboard.

I would try ebay.com or pricegrabber.com to look for an English keyboard for your R50e. You could also google the part number and maybe find a good deal. Here is the page with keyboard part numbers for your R50e.
