IBM ThinkPad 570E Screen problem

Hi all

I have a 570E thinkpad. The screen used to turn white when i start the laptop. and after moving the screen few times the display used to come normal. Once smoke came out of the videocable and after that the display is always too dark that one cannot see anything. I got anew videocable but even now the display is all black, i mean too dark that it seems allmost black. Is my display screen need to changed or it is some other problem. any help will be appreciated.

Have you tried connecting it to an external monitor to see if it works?
