Use Recovery CD to copy data from T42 to X31

Sorry if this is a redundant post -- but I read as much as I could when I did a historical search for Rescue Recovery on the forums.
Here's my questions:
1. I use a T42 at work, and want to switch to a X31. If I use Rescue & Recovery to image all of my T42 data, will I be able to use those CDs to install into the X31? In essence, will I be able to effectively transfer my T42 data, settings, etc. into the new X31 by simply running the X31 RR and putting in the T42 discs?
2. Is the Rescue Recovery software sophisticated enough to know that it's backing up from a T42, Serial Number XXXX, and only allow that to restored to the same machine? If so, I'm guessing Acronic True Image is the only way?
FYI - I'm upgrading to a larger and faster HD, so simply swapping HDs is not an option.[/u]
