"Media test failure..." is this an error?

Hello,

I've been lurking on this forum for the past few weeks preparing for the day when I will have a ThinkPad of my own. The day has come, Alleluia!

I have a R50e and everything looks great so far. One question though: I get this message during boot and I'm not sure if this is an error or not as everything works normal afterwards:

Initializing and establishing link...
PXE-E61 Media test failure, check cable
PXE-M0F Exiting Intel Boot Agent

If this is not an error, does anyone know what it means? Otherwise said, when would I be getting an "OK media test" and what would happen then?

Thanks.

P.S. I found a great community here. I see people are rather enjoying being part of a great family than struggling with technical nightmares :D

Yes that is an error. Try running PC Doctor diagnostics to see if you can get more information. One thing to try is remove any floppy disks, CD's or DVD's then reboot. You could also try removing the optical drive (CD/DVD) from the laptop, then reboot. See if you still get the above error.

I just figured it out: the boot sequence was set in BIOS as PCI LAN, etc, etc..., HDD was the 5th device to attempt to boot from. I changed it to first, CD-ROM is second followed by all the other stuff. No more errors. And shorter boot time.

Thanks GomJabbar, you worried me enough to stop being lazy and ignore this issue.
