one of my keys is askew

#1 Post by ewthompson » Wed Oct 05, 2005 3:37 pm

how would you hardware gurus recommend I go about realigning a key on my keyboard, which mysteriously is tilted at an angle now. It is fairly slight, but very annoying, not to mention (again) puzzling. On stand alone keyboards you usually can pop the key off, then put it back on. They appear to be more durably attached on the Thinkpad, and I dont want to risk screwing it up...

thanks,

EWT

Take a look at this thread. There is also a useful link in the thread.

The keys on ThinkPads aren't more durably attached, they're designed so you can't just press down on the keys to lock them into place. You need to pull out the key completely, and remove the interlocking plastic parts from the notebook and assemble them on the key, then press the key back into the notebook.
