Just wanted to say hi. I was excited to see there was a community for thinkpad users! I just got a good deal on a thinkpad T22 with a 900MHz PIII, 512MB of RAM, 20GB HDD, DVD and floppy and in good condition. Just $335.

I've wanted a laptop for a while but haven't had any serious need for it, my desktop handles most of my needs. But these thinkpads have a reputation for being the best out there and this was a great deal. I can't believe that Dell C610's go for more than similar thinkpads on ebay... I think the T22 is a better laptop (so far)

I've not used a T22, but if the build quality is anything like my X21, then I don't get why C610s sell for more. I've used 'em - they're not great laptops, 'cept my college is getting rid of a whole fleet of SXGA+ ones... probably via auction...

That sounds like a pretty good deal for a T22 with your specs. I just bought a 1.2GHz T23 for $425 off e-bay.

And yes, thinkpads are the best windows laptop. They are pretty good for Linux too.
