Probably a system with a working caps lock key would be best for you.

Umm, you can always go with a nice XPS if you want "POWERFUL".
Other than that, I can't tell much but "read reviews and study".
I was hasty and found out that the T43 has nasty fan noise...
(If you are autistic or such, and don't get the hint. Please understand "FACTER DAT [censored] IN" doesn't really make us want to help...)

Kyocera: 203 posts
nonny: 859 posts, and she's an admin
Navck: 505 posts
carbon_unit: 460 posts
Myself: This'll be 713 posts
You: All of TWO posts.
Let's see... that's awful rich of you, telling us to leave. We're a LOT more established in this community than you, and one of us is a forum admin.
Also, I did actually help you - look at my recommendation for the model. That was actually a serious recommendation. The rest of my post, though? No, it wasn't.
nonny, the banstick's over on your left. You know how to use it
Edit: Fixed something...

$2,200 nowadays will actually get you a pretty nice system if you know where to look, prices have dropped a ton since the good ol' days of Pentium I's and SVGA screens.
If I were you, I'd look at the T42 or T42p or maybe the T43. Something in the R series might also suit your appeal if you are wanting to spend a little less.
I'd also take a good look at some of Toshiba's corporate models as well as HP's. I'd stay clear of anything that's consumer grade unless it's from a company with a very good reputation as the consumer notebooks tend to favor quantity over quality and they generally tend to have a premium on flashy gadgets and big numbers over construction and reliability.
Also, on an unrelated note, you may have already noticed but typing properly and neatly and using good grammar will result in a much warmer welcome from many of the other messageboard members. Unless you are wanting to yell at someone, the caps lock key is usually best left off.
Oh, and welcome to the forum. I do hope you can get some useful information here.

In fairness to sweethookup, the language/etc in his/her post is pretty common in most forums I've seen. By contrast, this forum is especially polite and civilized (which I like), so let's hope the responses above have taken care of the issue.

I agree, but you do see a ringer motoring thru now and again.
Sweethookup, you say you want the best system for about $2,200. You should describe what you will be doing with it in order to get the best advice. Is gaming important? You going to be doing any CAD or Photoshop work? Is it just for school and general use such as web browsing and typing documents?
Off hand without doing research on the price, I would guess maybe a 15" Flexview T42p. Or perhaps one of the new Z-series. The T43's are good too.
