Bluetooth vs Wireless RF external keyboard and mouse?

Can anyone comment on the performance of Bluetooth wireless desktops (mouse and keyboard) vs Wireless RF wireless desktops?

-T43p (2668-H2U) P-M 770 2.13, 2.0GB RAM, 60GB 7200RPM, DVDR, 15" IPS Flexview UXGA, 128MB ATI FIRE GL V3200 (DIED)
-T61 (On it last legs)
-Using a desktop now b/c i can't find a laptop to drive my 2560x1600 monitor.

is it possible to remove the left mouse button (used with the trackpoint) to clean it below ?
