Prospective Thinkpad Buyers

Hello,
Planning to buy a Lenovo/IBM Thinkpad?? Be aware that you will receive your laptop in atleast 1 month in most of the cases. Someone may get it soon. So if you are planning to sell your existing laptop or going to start work soon, plan properly and the Thinkpad will come to you only after 1 month. If you see that Package is shipped and can also see UPS tracking, don't hurry and there will be customs clearance which will take 1-2 weeks mostly.

I ordered a machine that was listed as "2 weeks" for delivery, and that's about what it took from China to my door.

The representative I spoke to gave me an estimated ship date of two weeks and it shipped one day off from the estimate. My X41 shipped from China to New York in 3 or 4 business days including customs clearance.

I sent an email asking about the status of my order (no other easy way for Canadians to check that, sadly) that I placed a couple of weeks ago, and was told that I would be waiting until mid to late November to get it.
Apparently they expect some delays with shipping, so the OP might not be completely baseless.
The email:
"In response to your request for the status of order
************, please note that your order has been
processed and we are currently waiting for stock of the
T42 - 2378RBU model.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, we apologize for the
inconvenience and delay as these are expected to arrive
in mid to late November."
Maybe this is just for certain models, though.

Trip..
It all depends on the particular model that you ordered .. and if you made any changes to the actual base configuration. A delay here in Canada won't be because of customs, but rather supply being constrained on the base units themselves.
The RBU itself is expected mid November.
