Pet messed up my keyboard

#1 Post by catproblem » Tue Dec 13, 2005 2:03 pm

hi

my cat sat on my keyboard while my computer is on and now I have this problem:

When I type 'm', the number '2' appears. ItThis problem affects the lettters in the P to U region on the keyboard. Now, to type the letter 'm', I have to hold down the Fn key and hit 'm' key on the keyboard. How can I get it to work normally again? Thanks!

Your symptoms almost, but not quite match, what would happen if Num Lock were engaged. Try pressing the NumLk key while holding down the Shift key. (The NumLk key is directly above the F11 function key along the top of the keyboard.)

brooklynboy,

I will try that later.

The problem is as if my Fn key is engaged, therefore, activating the alternate number pad from letters P to U. But I want it to be back to normal, where hitting 'm' gives me 'm' and giving '2' onl y when I hold the Fn key. Thanks!

You turn NumLk on and off by pressing the ScrLk key with the SHIFT key NOT the Fn key!
