Recommendations for light weight ThinkPad?

I would like to have a light weight laptop for travel. I would only use it for Internet and email (need wireless) and some word processing. It doesn't need to be very fast and I suppose I can even use some version of Windows before XP. Which models should I be looking for? Thanks.

Are you looking for new or used?

If light weight and cost is a priority for you, look for a ThinkPad X30 or X31. You can probably find them relatively inexpensively right now, and they are really nice little machines :D

I've only ever seen the X30 up close, but I was pretty impressed! The X40/41s are also pretty nice, but they have slow HDDs :(

I bought my x22 for the exact purpose. It serves me well and runs XP pro great.

Is there a size difference between the x20 series and the x30 series?

I would strongly recommend a X-series ultralight. I'm using a X21 for that exact purpose. Works great........Ron

As for Windows, keep in mind that Windows 98, 98SE, ME and 2000 will all stop being supported in March 2006. That means no new security updates without special paid-for support contracts.

The X20 and X30 are the same size, the X40 a bit smaller.
