I installed 4.01 and it works fine. A small detail that was broken in 3.81 and 4.00 that seems to be fixed is that hovering over the tray icon shows the whole IP instead of just the first two octets. Assuming the proper IP displays stays (and is not just temporary after rebooting), then I am pleased with the fix.
There is a new Software Installer out, too, that picked up new HD Protection software and Keyboard Customizer, but not Access Connections.

i just updated from 3.81 on my tp r32. And I am kinda shocked by the new user interface. My experience so far:
- smaller interface (good)
- faster (good)
- a lot less information present (really bad)
- connection type symbols gone in the profiles list (bad)
- interface is very inconsistent when creating a new profile (bad)
- etc...
please give it a try and tell me if I am missing something here...

All the old information, and more, is there and the connection type symbols are there too.
You need to have a good look around in the menus, which once you get used to them are much more consistent and useful than the previous 3.x interface.

Bill

Lot less information
If you mean the "Find Network" screen, click "show details," it gives you the table. But you can hover over each SSID and it shows stuff too. Nice little simplification, as it graphically displays signal strength.
I actually do miss the information you got from hovering over your laptop, the WAP, the internet, et al, on the main screen ... but it's a minor complaint IMHO.

To select a symbol to associate with an existing service, select
Locations:
Manage Profile:
[Highlight desired profile]
Profile Actions:
Edit:
You should now be in the "Edit Profile" panel.
Right next to the "Name of location profile" entry box is another drop down box which allows you to assign a symbol to the profile.
A similar display occurs, with the relevant symbol drop down box, when creating a new profile.
Cheers,
Bill

Little bit confused though. I've always had an ad-hoc wireless profile and never had to enter IP adresses manualy. Anyone knows sth about that? Windows used to do all that work automatically.

Sometimes to get a more reliable connection, it helps to set up the TCP/IP settings manually. I do this with my home wireless connection. I don't bother when I'm out on the road.

Is Access Connections V4.01 show up at "Software Installer"
or "System Update".....? I don't see that on the list,
Is it normal? Anyone have AC 4.01 on the list...?

Access Connections does not show up in Software Installer on my T41 (where many versions have lived before). It does show up in Software Installer on a new T43 I set up. ... JD Hurst

Anyone else find that AcSvc.exe spikes every 7 seconds or so? Goes from about 0 to 10% CPU?

Nope. Seems to be fairly benign. JD Hurst

Hmm... mine seems to do so.
I'm running wired, wondering if that has anything to do with it. Radio is off.

wow. I am way behind got my T43 in end of August. The version of software installer wasn;t working at time. just downloaded it agian today so updating some things.
My Access Connections is version 3.71. Am I missing anything? Should I bother. Anybody have screenshots of this updated one?

So Yeah I clicked the link for Access Connections that is in the first post and noticed it has the same date as the update for version 3.81.
According to my software installer that is asking me to upgrade my 3.7. to 3.81 it says the relase date was 12.20.05 yet on the link for v4.01 it says relase date 12.20.05?
should i install 3.81 for safety since it seems most people have 3.8and have no problems?

Nevermind. Just updated to 3.81. Seems to be working fine. No longer called IBM Access now thinkvantage haven't noticed anything else. will wait i guess for 4.01

I downgraded to 3.8.1, since then no more CPU spikes, keeping my laptop cooler.
Seems like there's a bug somewhere in the new AC. Hopefully IBM/Lenovo notices it and takes care of it soon.

I found unchecking:
"Show wireless status icon in system tray"
under the notification tab, in the "Global Settings" window fixed my problem.
Seems polling, at least with an intel 2915 adapter causes this spike.
