my r50e takes a very long time to shut down windows althoug.

hi.i have a strange problem here my r50e which is a 1.6ghz centrino with 512 rams takes about 2-3 minutes to shut down windows (u know the windows in sutting down screen) althought in boots and loads up the startup applications in windows in less than a minute.the programs i have working are access connections,wireless connections(although i don't use them now) and message center.thanks

Try the UPHClean service from Microsoft.

Here is one microsoft article on the subject, a google search lands a lot of these hits. You probably need to evaluate the system overall and see if any changes recently may be a causal factor. Maybe run PC dr., check the event viewer for red X's and see if these are any indication of a perceived problem.

A registry cleaner might help. Disk defrag, some routine maintenance might be in order. Sometimes ms updates can cause issues with certain software or hardware on your machine.
