Main difference between Port Replicator II and Dock II?

#1 Post by tbessie » Wed Feb 01, 2006 3:27 pm

Hey folks...

I just bought a Port Replicator II on eBay, and I realized that maybe I had wanted a Dock II. Is the only difference that the Dock II has more connectors and an Ultrabay device in it?

Also, are the Cardbus slots still available when the machine's in the Port Replicator II? I notice the Dock II seems to supply an extra Cardbus slot, so I wondered.

Besides the differences you already noted, the Dock II also has a slot for a 1/2 height PCI card. Many use this to upgrade their video for external display.

Looks like the Dock II would have been better. Too late! :-)

By the way, what about the Cardbus slots? In my A31, will they both still be available in the Port Rep II?
