Dr Watson Crashing

Recently, DrWatson Postmortem Debugger has been crashing. I'll get an error from another program and I think DrWatson tries to load, but then I get "DrWatson Postmortem Debugger has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

Error signature
AppName: drwtsn32.exe AppVer: 5.1.2600.0 ModName: kernel32.dll
ModVer: 5.1.2600.2180 Offset: 00082fc4

So I click "Don't Send" and that just gets another DrWatson error window, and my Task Manager Process list fills up with 30-40 instances of "dwwin.exe" and "drwtsn32.exe"

I'm going to try calling IBM tomorrow, but anyone have any ideas?

IBM support told me "we don't support that software you should reformat" so I did.

Dr. Watson Postmortem is a virus, there is no MS program by that name.
My wife's notebook got infected (running AVG by the way) and the only way to get rid of it was by reformating and reinstalling OS.

When a program crashes (for example, after an access violation), the system automatically invokes a debugger that is specified in the registry for postmortem debugging. To set a debugger as the postmortem debugger, use Regedt32.exe to edit the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AeDebug

Add or edit the Debugger value. If you want the debugger to be invoked without a popup, add or edit the Auto value. Give it the string value 1. If Auto is zero, a popup will be displayed before the debugger is invoked.

To install Dr. Watson as the postmortem debugger, use the following command:

drwtsn32 -i
