Hi,

I just purchased TomTom Mobile 5 for use with my Nokia 9300i. It came bundled with its own Bluetooth GPS receiver. Since I happen to have a Bluetooth-enabled ThinkPad (X31), I thought I could also try GPS on the TP. Any recommandations regarding Windows GPS software? Is using the TomTom Bluetooth GPS receiver only a matter of pairing it with the TP? I can do this (the receiver shows up as "TomTom Wireless GPS MkII", with a yellow question mark on its icon), but the BT software shows no services for it. Intended use is with a car in Europe.

when I use my GPS receiver with the Thinkpad, I just do a serial connection/pairing. No services required.

As a program, I'm using OziExplorer, for which there is a trial version, too. However, if you just want to try it out, converting maps (proprietary file format, at least for PDAs) is probably over the top.

Also, this program is more for hiking/biking (with a PDA), not so much for use by car or route planning. Hopefully someone else can point you in the right direction for a suitable program.

If you just want to check if the receiver works with your PC, I'd recommend SiRFDemo (your receiver seems to be SiRF III-based), which is free.
