empty ultrabay hdd caddy causing bios delay?

#1 Post by PrincipalValiant » Thu Feb 16, 2006 5:05 pm

Hey guys, I recently picked up an ultrabay 2000 hard disk caddy for my t23, (now I've got a 7k60 plus the original 40gb drive), anywho... I prefer to leave the caddy empty to decrase weight (as opposed to with the hard disk in it or a combo drive) while traveling but for whatever reason it is adding about 10 seconds onto the bios screen at boot (for a total of around 15 seconds of displaying the IBM logo) I guess it is checking and rechecking for a disk that isn't there.

Unfortunately I haven't found any settings in the bios about a second hard disk anywhere (including the boot settings) while the caddy is empty.

Has anyone experienced this or knows of a fix?

Fix: get one of the "empty ultrabay cover" and use that....
