The installer just hangs when I tried to install this using package manager.

I've tried helping the situation by removing the old version, but the same result happens and now I have no presentation director at all.

Ideas?

Have you tried manual installation? It is described in the release notes for all TP driver/application.

yes. i've tried everything - including installing it in safe mode.
the installer will work in safe mode, but refuses to install "not supported" i assume because of missing drivers in safe mode that make it "know" that it's really a thinkpad.

I'm hoping that a new(er) version will get posted soon.

I've checked with a few collegues with the same box and they seem to have had no problems with the upgrade.

I've even "torn down" every process I can to try to get the install to run but setup just hangs whether manually run or thru pkgmgr.

Maybe you can reinstall the original version of Presentation Director that came with your ThinkPad. Run Setup.exe from the following directory: C:\IBMTOOLS\DRIVERS\PDIRECT

i noticed that the installer hung for a good 5 or 10 min (I left my desk) when I installed it. eventually, it brought up the install dialogue box (with the EULA, etc.)

I tried that it won't re-install either.

i've tried that too - left it overnight and same result.
