I am considering either a 600X or a T23. Both are in excellent condition. My main concern is the keyboard. Read somewhere that the 600X keyboard is the better. Can some one enlighten me? Thanks

600x is an older Thinkpad compared to the T23.
The 600x will have much older hardware/slower processor than the T23. The T23 will come with a P3-M processors usually 900Mhz+, upto 1gb ram etc.
i would definitely go towards the T23 since its the newer of the two laptops and parts are plentifully available.

The T23 has a really good keyboard too. Go for it...

While the T2x series is second to the 600 series for keyboards (IMHO), I would definately choose a T23 over a 600X ANYDAY, as the T23 can go up to a 1.2GHz cpu and 1GB ram. I love my T2xs, as much as I love my 600 series laptops....though the T2xs are far more powerful, and larger displays.

Thanks for the comments. The reason for the post is I am a writer. Once owned a 600X many moons ago. Remembered the keyboard. Checked Ebay and was surprised to find not much of a difference in price between the two notebooks considering the age difference. Again, thanks.

FWIW, the reason that they are close to the same price, is that there aren't as many 600Xs floating around. Supply and Demand.

The 600X seems to have a bit of a cult following around it because it's the highest point the highly popular 600 formfactor ever reached. The Pentium III seems to make a huge difference over the 600 and 600E, or so it seems, I haven't ever used a 600X so I wouldn't know off hand. However, it does seem that ever since it became popular to modify 600E's with PIII chips, the 600X has lost some ground.
