Both the X31 and the T23 come standard with 56W PSUs, which means that it is fine.

Is the PSU that you have, the one that came with the system? If it says that it is 3.5Amp, then it is.

Are you using a T30 battery in your T23? If you are using a T30 battery, it is recommended that you use a 72W (4.6Amp) PSU, for better supply of power to the systemboard while charging the T30 battery.

So, to sum it up, if you are using a standard T23 battery, then yes you can use the X31 PSU. If you are using a T30 battery, you should invest in a 72W PSU.

I'm not sure the quote is correct. Per the tawbook, all the T2x series were originally sold with 72w adapters.

Search the forum for "56w" read the posts to learn the risks of using an underpowered power supply. In my opinion, I would never use a 56w adapter with a machine that was designed and delivered when new with a 72w adapter.

Wow, you're right....sorry about that. I never bothered to look up the PSU for the T2x series, since each of mine (used) only came with the 56W PSU.

I did look up the X31 for the sake of this thread, but I should have double checked the T2x's.

In that case, it isn't necessarily recommended that you use the X31 PSU on your T23...assuming that your X31 really has the 56W PSU.

Gheez!! Thanks guys......my OEM PSU for my T23 had fried when I used it on my business trip to Vietnam. Perhaps I might wanna get a original PSU........that would cost me a bomb. I 'm curious....on how the docking station works for various T-series and X series?? It has a auto voltage switching between those?
