Upgrade to RnR v.3 or not?

#1 Post by Piran » Sun Feb 26, 2006 12:08 pm

I currently have Rescue and Recovery 2.04.0182 on my T43p. Is it worth to upgrade to v.3 or not?
Reading through the readme-file I found that it is an 920MB install, the v.3 that is. This is huge! When I look in "add or remove programs" I see that my current RnR is only 68,39MB big. Is this because I deleted the hidden/protected IBM partition? Is the most part of the 920MB written to this hidden partition? If so, can I still install v.3? Is v.3 a big improvement, worth the extra disk space (I deleted the hidden partition to free up disk space)?

Regards,

Piran

You deleted your hidden service partition? Have you tried to boot to your PDA since then? It should be gone with the Service Partition. To perform a regular restore you will need to install RnR to re-create a virtual partition to get your PDA back. And no the new RnR is not that large of an installation. 3.0 comes with CSS by default but you can deselect those features to save space. With the PDA information reinstalled the total RnR only install should be well under 300 MB.
