Mini-pci 802.11 compatibility

I understand that if a ThinkPad bios doesnt support a particular piece of hardware, drivers will not install. My question concerns mini-pci wireless lan cards and I'm curious which brands of cards are actually bios compatible with T-2x series machines. If the drivers install and the OS recognizes the wireless lan card and reports it's working ok and yet the card cannot connect with a working wireless router, there obviously has to be something wrong with the setup.
This is a brief explanation of my issue with two used Broadcom BCM94306 802.11 54G b/g mini-pci cards and two T-2x series ThinkPads, two identical cards will install but not connect with a working wireless G router. Network properties are set for auto detection of addresses, and radio function is on.
The antenna in use in a T-20 is factory installed in a used replacement display and the other antenna I installed in a T-23 is situated in the leading edge of the palm rest, and my workdesk is less than two feet away from my router. The antenna in the T-23 is one of two new coaxial antennas I bought with the cards, and the other antenna I taped to the top of the display housing after the internal antenna seemed not be working.
Also, the T-20 mini-pci port worked with the IBM 10-100 nic installed. Yet neither machines after the wireless upgrade connect with my router. I temporarily use a D-Link Air-Plus card and a Belkin USB wireless adapter in these two machines and I only want to use the mini-pci wireless cards in them.
I have a chance to buy a couple new PRISM 802.11 b/g cards but are fearful that these will not work on these two systems.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
