How to activate the middle-button of the TrackPoint?

So here's the deal: I have a T42p, which is about 1.5 years old. In the very beginning, I had the TrackPoint working and the middle-button would also behave like a middle mouse button. After I reformated the notebook, I never got that button running again. When I press it, I can only use it as scrollbutton somehow. I don't know if it's a problem because I normally use the touchpad, but the buttons which are "on top" of the touchpad.
