I need to build a small firewall appliance and would like to use something like a Mobile Celeron M instead of the regular Socket 478 Celeron D's which run very warm. Are there any Celeron or Pentium M's that will fit a desktop Socket 478?

The larger 1MB cache of a Celeron M is highly preferable and I've found a 1.5ghz for ~$90. The firewall is database driven so the larger cache would chew right thru it.

Also, is there any physical difference between the uFCPGA478 and Socket 478?

None of the celeron M or pentium M processors are electrically equivalent to the netburst chips ( normal celeron or pentium 4 chips ). They have the same number of pins as the desktop chips, and might even fit in the socket physically, but the pins are mapped completley differently. If you use an expensive ASUS 875 board, ASUS has a socket converter you can attach to use a pentium M/celeron M, however motherboard and adapter were both very expensive last I saw.
