Thinkpad Desktop Icon?

#1 Post by krymson » Sun Mar 05, 2006 2:41 am

Has anyone made a Thinkpad icon that you could use to replace the "My Computer" icon and etc. ?

In the old official Thinkpad support or community page, I remember being able to download wallpaper, themes, and Active desktops. The icons were also customized.

Unfortunately, I only downloaded some screensavers. Maybe some other members have archived some of the other things?

There was a thread just on this in the GENERAL ThinkPad News/Comments & Questions forum. http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=21455

They have several customized icons in the Active Think and Think themes.

If you want to further customize, you could rename "My Computer" to "My ThinkPad" or just "ThinkPad."

Back up your registry before doing any hacking, BTW. You have been warned. ;)

I seem to be able to rename My Computer without registry hacking for some reason.

The thinkpad icon in the theme is weak, I'm stickin with the tp98tray.exe icon for now.

Why do all those registry changes? Just right click on My Computer and select rename.

I did one just for that purpose and renamed "My Computer" to ThinkPad.

Nice. I used to have one I made for my OmniBook, I ought to see if I can adapt it.

Actually, a G-H-B with red trackpoint would make a nice .ICO, too. ;)
