Second HDD Adapter and Battery Life.

Hey all,

I am looking to pick up the Ultrabay Slim adapter for HDD use. I have the DVD Burner but I dont really use it. Ever. Ive got an external DVD Burner at home already. While im at school I would like to be able to switch between Linux and XP. When the Second HDD is connected and operational the first one doesnt spin does it? Im sure if it does it can be remedied with a spin down utility...

Also, is there any huge hit on battery life? If it taxes the battery too much I wont even bother ... ill just get a larger HD and dual-boot Linux and XP.

Thanks in advance,
Brian.

I don't use the ultrabay HD much. IIRC, if I change the boot sequence to the ultrabay, I don't get asked for the main HD password. That would indicate that the main HD doesn't start. I can't say for sure. Even so, it should stop if not being used, so battery life should be OK.

Still, if I were in your shoes, I would use a larger HD and keep the DVD.

Thanks for the reply jdHurst. I think ill just pick up a 100 GB HD and the adapter so I can clone my old drive on the 100gb and use the original 60gb as travel storage.

Thanks again.

Brian.
