Anybody ever changed a Thinkpad's crystal oscillator?

#1 Post by toddyjoe » Mon Mar 06, 2006 11:11 pm

Has anybody has ever changed a Thinkpad's crystal oscillator as a mod for faster or better performance or better stability? Seems to me that such an approach is a bit extreme for everyday overclockers used to DIP switches or jumpers. However, I am sure there is some Thinkpad owner out there who has given it a shot. Anyone?

I've heard of this practice being done on older Macintoshes and some 286 PCs but not much.
ThinkPad T60: 2GHZ CD T2500, 3gb RAM, 14.1" XGA, 60gb 7k100, Win 7 Ult
Latitude E7250: i5 5300U 2.3ghz, 12gb RAM, 12" 1080p touch, 256gb SSD, Win 10
