Sims 2 on a T21?

#1 Post by tfflivemb2 » Tue Mar 14, 2006 8:58 pm

Has anyone ben able to play Sims 2 on a T21?

According to the specsheet for Sims 2, the hardware seems to meet the requirements. My only real concern is the video card.

Does the T21 have enough video ram , or is it even capable of running this program? I don't know too much about the video card and whether or not it is T&L capable.

From what it appears to me, you will Barely be able to run it. A friend of mine has Sims 2 on a desktop machine and he had very little memory in it to start and it severely limited the number of people he could have on the screen at once. He had to upgrade to a seperate video board and he put in memory to take him to 1 GB, and it ran significantly better. I don't know about your graphics board, but you may want to upgrade the memory.

Thanks for the input.

This is for a friend of mine that wants to buy a T series Thinkpad, and the selling factor whether or not they will be able to play Sims2 on it. Though, it won't be a deal breaker if it doesn't.

Anyone else know for sure?

The specsheet calls for at least 32MB video memory and T&L. The T21 features 8MB memory only and T&L was introduced with the Savage 2000, the successor of the Savage IX (source: Wikipedia). Sims2 will not work on a T2x.

That is kind of what I was thinking. :(

Looks like she will have to go with either a different system or forget about playing Sims2 on a laptop.

Her spending limit is $300...not asking too much, right?

For those that might be interested, I finally got my friend's copy of Sims 2 and was able to test it. I have definately confirmed that Sims 2 will NOT run on a T21. The video card isn't Directx 9.0c compatible.

HOWEVER, for the record, it ran just fine on a T23 with 512mb ram.
