Okay, whiles shopping for a DVDRW/CDRW Multi bay I noticed that they are about 4 kiinds that Lenovo/IBM makes

1. One that is dirt cheap Ultra Slim that will burn DVDs at the rate of 2x and CDs at the slow rate of 16x. (which is slower that the CDR rate of 24x that I have now in my drive)

2. Then there is a Curved Bezel slim burner that is rare and seems to ship from China or Europe that burns DVDs at 2.4x and CDs at 16x.

3. Then there is the Plus that burns DVDs at rate of 4x and 2x and CDs at a rate of 24x. This is a little more pricy than the two above.

4. Finally at the top of the food chain, there is the Ultra Slim Plus Enhanced that burns DVDs at 8x and both CDs at 24x and 10x. I can get this for $230.00 right now on ebay.

Not all of the above are listed on the IBM site. But I did see the variations of all these four being sold online specifically for the T4x series..

My question is basically this: is the 8X DVD Burner way way way better than the2x or 4x burner? and worth the extra money.

Or should I jkeep my fast burning Ultra Bay II CD-R drive and ust get an external USB 2.0 DVD burner. I've seen an external DVD-R 24X & 16X speed Plextor brand DVD burner for like $100 on eBay, but its bulky?

There was a post about a month ago about a next-generation dual layer Lenovo branded DVDR/CDRW burner for the T60, which some says may be compatable with the T43.

Can't seem to locate this link...

Anyways, I think this is the product from Lenovo's site:
