No way to fix it. It's a limitiation of the keyboard (and most laptop keyboards I encountered). For quality gaming an external keyboard is mandatory.

To stop the beep, go to device manager, check "show hidden devices" look for a device called "Beep" in the non plug and play devices, and disable it. Reboot. No more beep.

The hardware could, yes; in the case of games, it is simply the event handler dealing with it. DirectInput, in most games, does a far better job of this than the default windows hardware event handler when it comes to keyboard signals. I even remember a few games where you had to periodically hit, say, the forward arrow key to go forward with the default handler rather than the DirectInput handler.

Most of them would not have problems. They may have problems with some specific combinations (usually only when you get to 4 or 5 keys), but no real way of knowing it in advance. For instance, I have this keyboard that doesn't like me pressing Forward+Left+A+Spacebar at the same time. But the same with Right instead of Left works like a charm.

A buddy of mine was completely prevented from using the alternate weapons in "(Star Control II) The Ur-Quan Masters" by this problem. Some keyboards just don't like multiple keypresses; my Saitek Gamer's Keyboard handles 4 just fine; and I spent a coulpe hours playing Half-Life on my R30 (Boy was I surprised when that loaded up OK!) with no problems... and yes, you CAN use a trackpoint in an FPS... I wouldn't exactly try to play on-line with one, but it's servicable! So the R30 can handle at least 3, I don't know how many more...
