3rd key

I read somewhere on how to use the 3rd key but can't find the article. Anybody know how to use it? e.g. J with 1.

That's the Num Lock feature. Press the SHIFT and ScrLk/NumLk key to turn on Num Lock. Press those 2 keys together again to turn NumLk off. This seems to be a common question lately.
