PC: IBM ThinkPad R51e
OS: Windows XP SP2, all current patches
TrackPoint drivers: 3.55.0.0 (current version)

Is this a regression, or is it something else?

People are saying that it's a setting in the TrackPoint driver. I wasn't aware that such a setting existed, to change horizontal scroll behavior for different applications.

Any ideas?

I just unistalled Opera 8.54 and installed Opera 9.00 beta. I have the same issue with horizontal scrolling using Opera 9.00 beta.

Something I noticed, which can be good or bad depending on your point of view, is that text on some overly wide pages on this forum (usually from the posting of a long URL) gets wrapped, so that the window is normal width. It wraps the the text in the URL's at punctuation characters, i.e. ? - / ' , etc. The same thing happens as you create a post - text wraps at punctuation characters in the typing box.

Another gripe I have with both versions of Opera is what happens at Google forums. When you choose to reply to a post, the box to reply in is only about 2" wide. When I am using Netscape 7.2, the box to reply in is about 5" wide.

I am still making up my mind if I want to stay with Opera. The horizontal scrolling didn't work in Netscape 7.2 either. I don't think it works in Firefox. It does work in I.E., but I don't want to use I.E..

Well, bump my thread over there (the more people that ask about it, the more likely they'll do something), and search to see if your other issues are covered...
