Bluetooth keyboard/mouse combos
Bluetooth keyboard/mouse combos
I was thinking, instead of just purchasing a bluetooth mouse as stated on my previous thread, to get a keyboard/mouse combination.
So far I like this combination, which the funky keyboard, and comfortable mouse that a tested out at the store.

I could get that for about $120 which seems good for a desktop solution. Has anyone used this setup?

Every once in a while I consider getting a bluetooth keyboard (my tp has built in bluetooth), but when when I compare prices with normal wireless keyboards it just isn't worth it. Bluetooth seems to at least double the price.
If it's what you want to do though, I'm a big fan of logitech keyboards.

True, BT items are way over priced but I couldnt pass up this good deal here. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... L:RTQ:US:1
I just won this auction for the same keyboard combo listed above.
I think its a pretty good deal considering this goes for $150 plus.

Glad you found one. Me, I used to be a huge Logitech fan (still have their first wireless mouse, and yes, it works fine; but I miss my my dear, deceased TrackMan Traveler). But their recent keyboards, every one I've tried out, felt terrible, even worse than my TP Chicony keyboard. Unforgiveable in a desktop keyboard.
I'm frankly frustrated that BT hasn't become more ubiquitous. I want a BT enabled digicam, BT printer,... but they seem to be hiding somewhere.

It was a good deal for like new condition. CompUSA has this for $150, I paid about $80 with shipping from cali. The only problem I predict would be connectivity issues with bluetooth and the devices.
I have been reading around and bluetooth devices seem to have a time-out period which shuts down the device within a certain period of time (2-10) mins or when the computer goes into standby mode which would require reconnection of the devices. They also just shut down periodically from what I read but Ill soon find out when I recieve my set.
I am currently using a wireless Logitech/mouse combo that I purchased back in 2001 and its still operating like champ.

Smells like misinformation to me. My BT headset stays on until the battery dies. I've been using my Wacom tablet/mouse for the past hour without any interruptions. Now ... some peripherals may be stateful. But a BT printer that shuts down and stops listening would not be a fast seller, me thinks. A keyboard/mouse set that shuts down on you would likewise be a hard sell.ThinkPad wrote:I have been reading around and bluetooth devices seem to have a time-out period which shuts down the device within a certain period of time (2-10) mins or when the computer goes into standby mode which would require reconnection of the devices. You'll see....

I got the Microsoft Wireless Optical Desktop for Bluetooth on ebay from seller consumersolutions. It ended up being around $35 after shipping. Not brand new and it did not come with a bluetooth dongle but I have the built in Bluetooth so that wasn't an issue. I use the mouse and keyboard religiously. Definitely worth the $35!
