Client Security Setup Wizard Never Finishes

#1 Post by BudC » Thu May 11, 2006 11:44 am

When I run the Wizard on my new T-60, it gets to the point where it's *creating system keys....processing* and never ends. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Client Security and I've let it run for up to 1/2 hour. No Joy.

I have to abort the process to get it to stop. Windows says it isn't responding.

I haven't been able to find anything on the IBM Support site.

Any ideas?

TIA,
Bud

Same problem here.

After formating/partioning and manualy installing windows and all the drivers the Client security solution hangs at the same point.

Any help is appriciated.

Do you have any antivirus or anti-malware (Microsoft Antispyware, Windows Defender, SpySweeper, SpywareGuard, etc., etc) running might be interfering with this? Some of these programs block installation of certain things.

Disconnect from the public internet, disable allof the AV/Anti-malware items, and try it that way.

No, I took out Norton although I was connected to a wireless network. I'll turn that off and see if it makes a difference.

Would you know what is happening when this process is running and how long it typically takes? I can see HDD activity for a while but then it seems to go into a loop.

TIA,
Bud

if you re-formatted/re-installed your laptop

and that happens...

that's because you have to go to the bios

& go to client security chip setting

& clear it (so that previous data is gotten rid of, or computer will get confused on which data to use, etc.)

this happened to me before

or if it's turned off, turn it on.

I reinstalled it, enabled the Security Chip, turned off WiFi and made sure Norton was uninstalled. Still no joy. It gets to the point where it won't respond.

I give up with this software. I don't need it but I thought as long as it was on the TP, I'd give it a try.

The hardware is great, but I'm not impressed with the IBM software.
