There have been several queries about upgrading audio quality for Thinkpads, especially older models like the T series.

I thought Thinkpad users who would like to upgrade their audio quality may find the following helpful. I found the following USB sound card solutions in the new Global catalogue [globalcomputer.com; affiliated with Tiger Direct]

All three devices are Turtle Beach.

budget : AUDIO ADVANTAGE MICRO "a USB audio adapter or USB sound card with both analog & digital outputs that incorporates a surround-sound simulator for creating an immersive listening experience on standard headphones or stereo speakers." $29.99
Item # T777-1012 (for photo)

--AUDIO ADVANTAGE AMIGO "digital signal processing turns orginary audio on a notebook or desktop PC to a wide variety of audio devices, including rich dynamic sound. Compact design makes the Amigo USB Audio Adapter the perfect audio acessory for travel, work or home use. Features a built-in microphone & includes a bonus earpiece with mic" "Great for Skype" $49.99

Hope This Helps Someone,

Perhaps I need to buy one of these instead of a mouse. Thanks!

Great prices! Unfortunately, it does not sound like any of these have MIDI input/output which I would like as well. I will have to check out the website to verify but it looks like the market for soundcards with MIDI interfaces is still a higher-dollar search.
