last battery topic EVER!

#1 Post by dsigma6 » Thu May 25, 2006 9:36 am

ive been reading up a lot about maximizing battery life.

i want to be sure that im using the correct settings to achieve this. i don't run battery maximizer on the taskbar, but i see that it is running in the task manager.

are there multiple areas i need to verify battery settings? i see the profiles when i click on the blue battery icon, but that only seems to apply to screen timeout/standby/hibernate issues.

please, i just want to make sure im not draining my battery unnecessarily. :?

My two cents. Probably, in my opinion, many of laptop battery problems are caused by the fact that Thinkpads use batteries in PARALLEL as well as series. Anytime you strap two batteries in parallel, you are, in my view, asking for problems.

HUH!!!

I know I'm going to be sorry for asking this but, care to elaborate?

Parallel = Constant Voltage, increased Amperage.

Series = Constant Amperage, increased Voltage.

I have a LOT of experience with banks of batteries in parallel as well as series on vessels, aircraft, cars, etc., etc.

Would it really matter if you did it right, also it was my understanding that msot notebook cells, not sure what they are called, are in parralel.

That only applies when the parallel batteries are used separately, the weaker battery will suck down the stronger. In general, if they are always at the same charge level there is no problem.
