cloning drive for r40 using 600e

#1 Post by dsigma6 » Mon Jun 05, 2006 3:58 pm

i dont know whether this is a normal idea, or quite laughable-

i dont have a 2nd hard drive adapter for my r40, but i do have one for my 600e. can i put my r40 hard drive into the 600e and boot? will that even work? if so, could the clone be done on that machine, and then brought back to the r40?

otherwise, ill either wait for a 2nd hd adapter, or start over with recovery.

thanks.

Well when you clone a hard drive, you don't boot from the hard drive anyway, you boot from a CD or Floppy Disk. So booting should be no problem.

EDIT: I should add that this is my experience. Maybe there is some cloning software somewhere that works from a booted hard drive.
